Gold and black are the school colors. The "FLASHES" draws its name from the lightning flashes on the school seal, which indicates the cadets enlightened attitude in accomplishing scholarship, sportsmanship and citizenship. The lamp of knowledge, the winged foot and the lyre further symbolizes these things.
The shoulder loop was approved on 26 March 2003.
