Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A rectangular-shaped embroidered device arched convexly at top and bottom, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Purple border, blazoned: "Per pile reversed Or and Purpure, a jagged Indian arrowhead point to chief of the first, charged with the letter "A" of the second". Attached above the rectangle, a Gold scroll inscribed "ALVARADO" in Purple letters. Attached below the rectangle, a Gold scroll inscribed "INDIANS" in Purple letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Purple and gold are the school's colors. The arrowhead is a symbol of the school's mascot, the Indian, which represents excellence, pride and tradition.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 11 January 2006.
