Shoulder Sleeve Insignia
A black circular insignia edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border, 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter overall, on which is centered a yellow representation of a lighthouse within a narrow yellow border; between the two borders at the top of the disc the inscription "AMARILLO HIGH SCHOOL" in yellow letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 22 September 1976.
Shoulder Loop Insignia
A gold color metal and enamel insignia 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a black enamel shield on which is a white enamel saltire charged with two gold muskets in saltire; in the top of the shield a gold star emitting seven gold rays; in dexter flank a gold open book; in sinister flank a stylized gold Lamp of Knowledge enflamed; and in base a stylized gold steer's head couped affront. Attached below the shield a gold arched scroll inscribed "ESSE QUAM VIDERI" in black enamel letters.
The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 25 March 1976.
