Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gray horseshoe shaped embroidered device 3 1/2 (8.89 cm) in height by 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm) in width and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border displaying a blue charging bull "Toro" with white detail lines. Arched above and around the bull, the inscription "CIGARROA HIGH SCHOOL" in blue letters.

Symbolism
Silver and blue are the school's colors. The Bull "Toro" is the school's mascot. The school opened in 1983 and was named after a local Laredo area heart surgeon, Dr. L. G. Cigarroa. Dr. Cigarroa was a fan of the bullfights in Nuevo, Laredo, known as Las Corridas de Toros, thus the Toro was chosen as the school's mascot.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 2 November 2005.

Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Azure, issuant from sinister a demi-bull couped close Argent. Attached below the device a Blue scroll inscribed "THE PRIDE OF SOUTH LAREDO" in base metal letters.

Symbolism
Silver and blue are the school's colors. The bull is the school's mascot and represents valor, bravery, strength and fortitude for unlimited education opportunities.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 2 November 2005.
