Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a yellow rectangle arched convexly at top and bottom edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border a yellow jacket wasp outlined and detailed black above a rifle and sword crossed in saltire also black, all within a 1/8 (.32 cm) black border. Attached above the rectangle a yellow scroll edged with a narrow black border inscribed "EDCOUCH-ELSA" in black letters. Attached below the device a yellow scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "JACKETS" in black letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height. The overall dimension of insignia are 3 1/2 inches (8. 89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) width.

Symbolism
Old gold and black are the school colors. The school nickname is "Yellow Jackets".

Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Gold metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, consisting of a shield blazoned: Quarterly Sable and Or in first an open book surmounted by a quill in bend sinister Or; in second a pair of grasping hands Or; in third a winged foot of the like and in fourth a Greek helmet also Gold; the shield between two Gold branches of laurel leaves issuing from a Black scroll inscribed "YELLOW JACKET" in Gold letters.

Symbolism
The school colors are gold and black. The book and quill represent academic achievement, the hands refer to brotherhood, the winged foot suggests athletic achievement, the Greek helmet alludes to citizenship and the laurel branches represent scholastic excellence.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 14 July 1988.
