Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A rectangular device with arced scroll attached above and below the device, the overall dimensions 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width consisting of a white background edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) maroon border, on which is centered the maroon head of a wildcat affront couped detailed black and white with a red tongue. On the upper white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) maroon border the inscription "PLANO" and on the lower white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) maroon border the inscription "WILDCATS" in maroon letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.

Symbolism
The school colors are maroon and white. The wildcat is the school mascot.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia originally authorized 13 March 1975, was amended 3 October 2006, to update the description, add symbolism, add metric measurements, add cable numbers, and provide manufacturing drawing. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-771)

Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height, consisting of a shield blazoned: Sanguine (Maroon), a wildcat's head caboshed Argent detailed Sable all within a diminished bordure of the second, surmounting a Light Blue star between two Yellow stars, all between the handles of two Silver sabers in saltire points to base. Attached below the shield, a Maroon scroll inscribed "PLANO" in Silver letters.

Symbolism
Maroon and white are the school colors. The wildcat is the school mascot. The stars signify the organization's tradition of distinction and honors. The crossed swords reflect military training and education.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 22 October 1990.
