Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a gray shield edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) crimson border a crimson "wave" issuing from base and arcing to sinister surmounted by a blue numeral one. Attached above the shield a gray scroll edged with a narrow crimson border and inscribed "SPAULDING" in crimson letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/8 inches (7.94 cm) in height by 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Crimson is the school color. The number "1" refers to the cadets of Spaulding High School as the first and currently only Army JROTC program in the State of Vermont. The gray color suggests granite indicative of the granite processing for which the City of Barre is renowned. The cresting wave identifies the cadets as an integral part of the school's crimson tide activities.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 13 November 1996.

Description

A silver color metal and epoxied circular device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in diameter, consisting of a gray textured disc with a stylized red wave divided into a darker and lighter shade, coming from the base and arcing to the left. All encircled by a dark blue designation band, patterned with light blue stylized waves in the midsection on each side, and inscribed "SPAULDING" at the top and "HIGH SCHOOL" at the bottom in silver letters.

Symbolism

Blue and maroon are the school colors. The gray textured background refers to Barres local granite industry. The cresting wave identifies the cadets as an integral part of the schools activities. It suggests unity, strength and pride. Spaulding High School was the first to have an Army JROTC program in the state of Vermont.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized on 31 May 2016.
