Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description/Blazon
On a blue rectangle edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) silver gray border, three silver gray reversed chevronels interlaced, surmounted by a yellow cougar in base springing with tail arcing to top. Attached above the rectangle, a blue scroll with beveled corners edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) silver gray border and inscribed "CAPITAL" in white letters. Attached below the rectangle, a blue scroll with beveled corners edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) silver gray border and inscribed "COUGARS" in white letters. The overall dimensions are 3 3/8 inches (8.57 cm) in height by 2 13/16 inches (7.14 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Blue and gray are the school's colors. The cougar is the school's mascot and is shown "at the ready," alluding to the spirit and dedication of the cadets. The interlaced chevronels suggest the letters "W" and "V" indicating West Virginia, the home state of Capital High School.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 11 March 1994. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10J-333)
