On a yellow vertical rectangle arched convexly at top and bottom with a black saltire and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, a white bulldog head erased at collar; pupil, nose, detail of mouth and collar black with spikes on collar white. Attached above the rectangle, a yellow scroll inscribed "MALCOLM X SHABAZZ" in black letters and attached below the rectangle, a yellow scroll inscribed HIGH SCHOOL" in black letters all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 5/8 inches (6.67cm) in width.
Black and gold are the school colors. The school's mascot is the Bulldog. The Bulldog represents strength and courage much like the civil rights leader Malcolm X whom the school was renamed after. The division of the shield in an "X" represents Malcolm "X" who change his named after joining the Nation of Islam. He was one the most courageous civil rights leaders of the 1960's and is mentioned as one of the most influential African Americans of the time.
