Symbolism
The colors of the shield are taken from the two schools which consolidated to form Kemper County High School and reflect the cadets' teamwork.  The conjoined chevrons, symbolizing support, form the letter "M" and refer to the state of Mississippi.  The red drops in chief symbolize the eleven wounds Baron de Kalb, a Revolutionary War hero, sustained at the Battle of Camden, costing him his life.  The school is located in the city named in honor of him.  The colors, chevrons, and drops of blood, taken together, symbolize community, state, and country and reflect the cadets' dedication to, involvement in, and support of all.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 30 December 1994. (TIOH Drawing A-10J-376)
