Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On an orange keystone shaped reversed embroidered item 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in width at bottom and 1 9/16 inches (3.97 cm) in width at top and 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm) high, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, a light colored (Eggshell) demi-horse forcene shaded black, above the inscription "MUSTANGS" in black.


Symbolism
Orange and black are the school colors. The Mustang is the battalion's mascot which represents the cadets' commitment to education.

Background

the shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized on The 21 October 1999. It is hereby cancelled due to a new design on 15 May 2015. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-242)

Description

A silver color metal and epoxied device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a black circular base displaying an orange sunburst issuing from lower left and throughout, surmounted by a brown demi horse rearing detailed silver gray and black and snorting white puffs of steam from its nostrils; all within a black horseshoe shaped scroll, the inscription arching from the lower left to the lower right "AUBURN UNIVERSITY MONTGOMERY" in silver.


Symbolism

Orange and black are the school colors. The horseshoe shape suggests the letter "A", denoting the battalion name and also signifies achievement. The sunburst indicates energy and symbolizes the cadets' dedication to school, community and country. The Mustang is the battalion's mascot which represents the cadets' commitment to education.
