Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a white circular shaped embroidered device with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border, 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter overall, a red Bison surmounted with the letters "IU" in white.

Symbolism
Scarlet and white are the colors of Indiana University.  The mascot is a Bison, taken from the coat of arms of the university.  The "IU" Is the school's monogram. 

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia approved 4 October 1978, was amended 24 August 2004, to update the description and cable numbers.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-174)




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel insignia 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall consisting of the shield, crest and motto of the coat of arms.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 4 October 1978.
