Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description

On a shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) Red border, blazoned as follows: Argent, the logo of Shippensburg University Porper. Attached above the shield, a White scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Red border inscribed SHIPPENSBURG in Blue letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 7/8 inches (7.30 cm) width.


Symbolism

The sailing ship is the schools logo; leading its students on voyage towards knowledge and education, preparing them for life ahead. Red and blue are the school colors.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 10 November 1982.  It was amended due to school name change on 8 February 1983, and cancelled to update the description and symbolism for a new design on 11 March 1998, which is hereby cancelled due to a new design on 24 March 2017(TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-147)

Shoulder Loop Insignia

Description

On a blue keystone shaped silver metal and epoxied device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in width, a red inverted isosceles triangle surmounted by two diagonally placed silver sabers, points down.


Symbolism

The keystone shape alludes to the state of Pennsylvania where the school is located. The sailing ship is the schools mascot, leading students on a voyage embracing education, expanding their knowledge, and preparing them for future success. Red and Blue are the school colors.
