Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a Yellow circular shaped embroidered device with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border, 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in diameter overall, a Silver Gray horseshoe detailed and shaded at the base Black its nail holes Argent, surmounted by a star of the last edged Orange, counter shaded Azure.

Symbolism
Imperial blue, white, and orange are the university colors.  The star held with the horseshoe symbolizes excellence and achievement.

Background
The first shoulder sleeve insignia authorized 29 August 1980, was cancelled on 21 October 1996.  The second design authorized 21 October 1996, was cancelled and the current design was authorized 28 January 2008.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-137)  




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height consisting of a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) border encompassing a horse shoe silver gray and surmounted by a star fimbriated orange its inner parts divided and counterchanged blue and white.  Attached below, a blue scroll inscribed "STUDIUM EXCELLENTIAE" in silver letters.

Symbolism
Imperial blue, white and orange are the university colors.  The star encompassed by a horseshoe represents the excellence and achievement through education.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia originally authorized 14 December 1981 was cancelled.  A new shoulder loop insignia was authorized 28 January 2008.
