Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On an orange rectangle embroidered device, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border.  The head and shoulders of an Indian black, detailed of the field between the inscription "POWHATAN" above and "INDIANS" below all in black letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in height by 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Black and orange are the school colors.  The Indian is the school's mascot.  The Indian represents the Powhatan Indian tribe that originally inhabited the area in Virginia.  Powhatan County has a rich history and was named in honor of Chief Powhatan (father of Pocahontas).

Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in diameter overall consisting of an orange disc displaying at the center Chief Powhatan's headdress with orange feathers and black tips, headband black, edged and detailed in base metal, all encircled by a black designation band and inscribed "POWHATAN HIGH SCHOOL" at top and "INDIANS" at bottom in base metal letters.
