On a silver gray rectangle arched at bottom and arched and flared at top, a white open book surmounted by a maroon key, ward up, its shaft a lightning flash; the bow entwined with a maroon sprig of laurel. Attached above the shield a maroon scroll inscribed "FRANKLIN" in gray letters, all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) maroon border. The overall dimensions are 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in height by 3 1/8 inches (7.94 cm) in width.
Maroon, gray and white are the school colors. The design elements are adapted from the school coat of arms. The book signifies the cadets' academic training. The key alludes to military history and dedication to duty. The lightning flash suggests physical fitness of the cadets. The laurel symbolizes cadet achievements, both physical and academic.
