Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A rectangular shaped embroidered device arched convexly at top and bottom edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) purple border and quartered purple and gold.  In the first and fourth quarter are lightning bolts.  The second and third quarters depict the tips of crab claws.  Attached above, a gold scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) purple border inscribed "CRISFIELD" in purple letters.  Attached below, a gold scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) purple border inscribed "CRABBERS" in purple letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height and 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Purple and gold are the school colors.  The use of the four quadrants alludes to the state flag of Maryland, the location of Crisfield Academy.  The crab is the school's mascot as Crisfield, Maryland is known as the crabbing capitol of the world.  The claws are depicted open and ready to defend which is representative of the school motto: "FEAR THE CRAB."  The lightning bolts symbolize perseverance and hard work.
