Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon

A disc shaped embroidered item 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter overall consisting of an inner white disc on which a cauldron suspended through the center from a chain between two standing wolves, facing each other, all red, all within a red designation band edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border, inscribed SEATTLE at the top and UNIVERSITY in base in white.


Symbolism

Red and white are the university colors.  The cauldron and the two wolves are taken from the device of the University.


Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia originally approved on 26 October 1973, was amended 29 November 2006 to include metric measurements and color and subdued versions.  It is currently being amended to update the manufacturing drawings and to add the ACU color conversion on 15 May 2019.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-184)

Description/Blazon

A Silver color metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall, blazoned as follows:  Quarterly, I, Or issuant from chief a hanging pot palewise Sable between two wolves respectant Brn; II, Gules the monogram IHS, the H superimposed with a cross Argent (Silver); III, Celeste, issuant from base the top of stylized three pine trees in front of a mountain of the fifth snowcapped Argent and in the IV, of the fourth, six bendlets of the first.    Attached below the shield, a Silver scroll inscribed SEATTLE UNIVERSITY in Red.


Symbolism

The university colors are red and white.  The design is an adaptation the universitys seal.


Background
The shoulder loop insignia was approved 29 November 2006.
