Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a black and red vertical rectangle shape embroidered device, arched convexly at top and bottom, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border, alternating black and red arcs issuing from lower left, displaying a silver hawk in flight.  Attached above, a black scroll inscribed "SEMINOLE RIDGE" in white letters.  Attached below, a black scroll inscribed "HAWK BATTALION" in white letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Red and silver are the school colors.  The hawk is the school's mascot of Seminole Ridge Community High School and is a symbol of honor and wisdom.  The alternating red and black piles symbolize the swiftness of the animal and quickness of each cadet to assist members of his or her battalion.  The hawk represents the Battalion's values of loyalty, duty, respect, and selfless service.

Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel shield shaped device blazoned as follows; Sable, a saltire Argent (Silver Gray) between in chief a lamp of knowledge, in base an atomic symbol, and in fess the masks of tragedy and comedy in dexter and a winged foot in sinister, all of the second, within a border Gules.  Inscribed at the top of the shield "SEMINOLE RIDEGE" Crest: A hawk's head erased to sinister Argent (Silver Gray).  Attached below the shield a Red quadpartite scroll inscribed "AH TAH THI KI" in Silver letters.  The overall dimension is 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height.

Symbolism
Red and silver are the schools colors.  The hawk is the schools' mascot and is a symbol of honor and wisdom.  The lamp of learning represents brilliance in academics; the foot of Hermes expresses swiftness and athletics; the atomic symbol highlights those studies of the external environment; the lyre suggests the studies of art and music.  Each is placed in a black quadrant, black signifying the noble pursuit of a well-rounded education.  A red shield frames all of these elements and exemplifies the responsibility every cadet has for his or her education and training at Seminole Ridge Community High School.  The inscription "AH TAH THI KI" translates to "A Place to Learn" in the language of the Seminole Indian Tribe, representing the rich Native American culture that is part of the history of Loxahatchee, FL where the Hawk Battalion is located.
