Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A shield shaped device with a horizontal scroll attached above the shield, all edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border blazoned as follow: Or a pile Sable debruised by a chevron Vert surmounted by an eagle stooping Proper, all within a diminished bordure of the second.  Attached above the shield, a Green scroll inscribed "GREENSVILLE" in Yellow letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Kelley green and gold are the school colors.  The eagle is the school's mascot.  The pile and chevron suggest the Arabic letters "V" and "A" and denote the abbreviation of the school's home state, Virginia.

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a black eagle with white head displayed grasping in its right talons a white torch flamant red and in its left talons a white rolled scroll and grasping in its beak a gold scroll arcing above  inscribed "GREENSVILLE" and arcing below a gold scroll inscribed "EAGLES" in black letters.

Symbolism
The eagle is the school's mascot.  The eagle grasps a torch signifying illumination of knowledge through education and a rolled scroll representing the cadets' involvement in school and community.  

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 7 December 1995.
