On a shield shaped device 3 inch (7.62 cm) in height and 2 inch (5.08 cm) in width overall consisting of a medium blue field edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) gold border, on which are three diagonal stripes white, red, white, extending from the viewer's upper left to lower right, issuing from the topmost white stripe a black demi-unicorn fimbriated white and bearing on its neck a white monogrammed "GC".
The JROTC attaches special significances to the unicorn, black representing the 100 percent Negroid element in Greene County. The characteristic strength of the unicorn suggests the strength and courage, leadership, which the ROTC program attempts to develop in each cadet. The colors blue and gold represent the colors of Paramount High School, and red, white, and blue represent the colors of Eutaw High School. The lettering "GC" represent all the school's in Greene County, Alabama.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 3 May 1974.
