Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A  black disc edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border, the overall diameter 3 inches (7.62 cm) on which is a yellow hornet in flight with black details between two arced inscriptions "EMPORIA STATE" above and "HORNETS" below, all in yellow letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.

Symbolism
Yellow and black are the official colors of the university.  The hornet is the mascot of the school.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 23 January 1984.
