The torch is a symbol of the academic enlightenment accomplished through education. Traditionally gold signifies the four virtues of nobleness, goodwill, vigor, and magnanimity while black represents constancy and determination; all qualities the cadets aspire to in their academic, athletic, and leadership endeavors.
