Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a shield-shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) White border, blazoned as follows:  Sable, a Chinese dragon Gules detailed Argent clutching the torch of knowledge Or, all above a scroll of the first and last unfurled from dexter to base and inscribed "PCHS" in Yellow letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Red, white and black are the school colors.  Red represents the courage of every cadet and black signifies the determination they have for a successful future.  The Chinese dragon is the school's mascot and alludes to the Chinese city Peking, the namesake of Pekin, IL.  The torch symbolizes the battalion's dedication to scholarship and academics.

Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel shield shaped device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Gules and Sable parted per bend sinister Or debruised by two Chinese Dragons addorsed and in between a torch of the same.  Above the shield, a Black scroll inscribed "PEKIN HIGH SCHOOL" in base metal letters.  Below the shield, a Black scroll inscribed "DRAGONS" in base metal letters.

Symbolism
Red, white, and black are the school colors.  The school mascot is the Chinese Dragon and symbolizes strength and heritage.  The torch represents scholarship and academics.  The shield signifies defense and readiness.

The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 25 January 2007.
