Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border, blazoned as follows:  Argent, a vol Sable detailed of the first charged with a Celtic cross with a fusil at each end Gules surmounted by two swords in saltire hilts as crosses of the third fimbriated and garnished of the second blades of the like.  Above the cross is the inscription "INDIANA WESLEYAN" in Black letters. Below the cross is the inscription "UNIVERSITY" in Black letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width.

Symbolism
The shield shape of the patch represents the defense of justice. The wings symbolize strength and protection. The Celtic cross signifies the Christian roots of the University and the hope of eternal peace. The swords pertain to courage, gallantry and self-sacrifice intrinsic to the profession of arms. Crimson and black are the school's colors. Crimson is symbolic of the courage of cadets as leaders in school and the community. Black signifies the determination to succeed in all endeavors.

Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Sable, in chief a key fesswise ward down toward sinister Argent, a cross fusil throughout Gules, in dexter base a lyre and in sinister base a winged shoe of the second.  Attached above the shield a Black scroll inscribed "INDIANA WESLEYAN" in Silver letters and attached below the shield a Black scroll inscribed "UNIVERSITY" in sliver letters.

Symbolism
