Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a white vertical rectangle arched convexly at top and bottom and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border a cutlass of the first, blade point up to dexter chief, guard, grip and pommel black, garnishing a red ensign charged with a Raider's head buff, beard, mustache and details black.  Attached above the rectangle a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "MIAMI EDISON" in red letters.  Attached below the rectangle a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "RED RAIDERS" in red letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Red, black and white are the school colors.  Red reflects the courage of the cadet's as leaders in the school and community. Black signifies the determination to succeed in all endeavors.  The Red Raider is the school's mascot and is shown upon a Red flag.  The cutlass as a flagstaff represents the weapon of the Red Raider and represents the military training the cadets receive. The White background reflects purity and truth and the black details and border signifies the determination to succeed in all endeavors.

Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a red ellipse charged with a black cloud bearing two sabers crossed in saltire, above an Edison light bulb.   Attached around the ellipse, a black scroll adorned with two wreaths, between at the top the inscription "MIAMI EDISON" and at the bottom the inscription "RED RAIDERS" all in gold.

Symbolism
Red, black and white are the school colors.  Red reflects the courage of the cadet's as leaders in the school and community. Black signifies the determination to succeed in all endeavors. The Red Raider is the school's mascot and is represented with the crossed sabers.  The light bulb signifies the enlightenment of the cadets through education and training while symbolizing Thomas Edison as the namesake of the school. The wreaths on the scroll symbolize the partnership of academic instruction provided by the school and leadership in the community by the cadets.
