Symbolism
Royal blue, gold and white are the school colors.  Blue represents    devotion and loyalty two virtues the cadets maintain in their daily lives.  Gold represents honor a virtue the cadets highly prize and fiercely maintain. White represents perfection; something the cadets seek to achieve in all endeavors.  The elk is the school's mascot and is a strong, hardy animal that displays perseverance and determination, much like the cadets of Elkin High School.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 13 May 2011.
