Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a vertical divided silver gray and maroon rectangle arched convexly at the top and bottom and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, a black panther lunging toward the viewer, detailed silver gray, with maroon tongue, teeth, whiskers and claws are white.  Attached above the rectangle, a silver gray scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "WESTWOOD" in black letters.  Attached below the rectangle, a silver gray scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "PANTHERS" in black letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in height and 2 3/8 inches (6.03 cm) in width.

Symbolism
The school's colors are maroon and Black. Maroon represents victory, as in the victory and honor of the cadets as leaders in the school and in the community. Black symbolizes consistency, as the consistency of the cadet's devotion and wisdom to succeed.  The panther is the school's mascot and refers to bravery, courage, vigilance and the cadet's fierce winning spirit.

Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Quarterly, Sanguine, a pole star Argent between in the first quarter a lyre, in the second an atomic symbol, in the third a winged foot, and in the fourth a scroll all of the second. In chief, a chain of six links fesswise of the last: emitting from the top of the shield a demi-torch flamant of the like.  Attached below the shield, a black scroll inscribed "WIN WITH DIGNITY" in silver letters.

Symbolism
Maroon and grey are the school colors.  Maroon represents victory, as in the victory and honor of the cadets as leaders in the school and in the community. Black symbolizes consistency, as the consistency of the cadet's devotion and wisdom to succeed.  The lyre symbolizes music, drama and arts. The atomic symbol indicates progress through technology and science. The winged foot represents athletics and sportsmanship.  The scroll pertains to education and knowledge. The pole star signifies the spirit of adventure and the ability to lead the way for other cadets in the community.
