Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a white vertical rectangle embroidered item rounded at the top and edged with a 1/16 inch (0.16 cm) black inner border, surrounded by a yellow designation band edged with a 1/8 inch  (. 32 cm) black border.  Displaying a matador dressed in the traditional "Suit of Lights" in yellow with black details. The matador's hair is black with white highlights and his hands and shirt are also white. The matador is bent at the waist toward his right and holding a red cape in his right hand as the bull is charging. The bull is black with white horns and has two lances in his back.   Attached below the rectangle, a yellow scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "PARKLAND" in black letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Yellow, black, red and white are the school's colors. Yellow signifies honor and wisdom. Black indicates the determination to succeed in all endeavors. Red symbolizes the patriotism the cadets have for their school and country. White represents the courage to act responsibly and possess uncompromising integrity. The matador is the school's mascot and represents bravery, fearlessness, courage and agility which are all the attributes the cadets strive to demonstrate in academics, athletics and community activities. The arched top of the patch represents the entrance to the bull fighting arena.

Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Sable, a fillet pall reversed Or between in chief a lyre and a winged foot, in base an atomic symbol all of the last, at fess point a mullet Argent below a lamp of knowledge of the Or; there on (meaning on the shield) a matador's head affrontee couped below the shoulders sword displayed of the last, montera (the matador's hat) Sable.  Attached below the shield, a Black scroll inscribed "MATADORS" in Gold letters.

Symbolism
Yellow, black, red, and white are the school's colors.  Traditionally the color yellow represents honor and wisdom; black is representative of constancy, determination, and dignity; white represents truth, discretion, and maturity; and red is representative of passion, patriotism, and zeal.  The Matador is the school's mascot and represents bravery, valor, courage, strength, agility, fearlessness, and gallantry.  The lyre is symbolic of music, drama, and art. The lamp represents scholarly achievement and knowledge. The winged foot pertains to athletics and sportsmanship. The atom alludes to the sciences and the nucleus of education.
