A Gold color metal and enamel shield shaped device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Purpure, in chief a Paladin pulsar of eight points Or, conjoined to the base of the shield two Eagles combatant and between a fleur-de-lis all of the second. Attached below the shield, a Purple scroll inscribed "SOUTH PLANTATION" and above the Eagles and extended across their wings palewise conjoining to the top a White scroll inscribed "PALADINS" all in Gold letters.
Purple, White, and Gold are the school colors. The "Paladin" is the school's mascot which describes perfection of the cadets. The eight pointed Gold Paladin star signifies leadership, citizenship, challenge, responsibility, wisdom, honor, virtues of nobleness and knowledge. The color Purple signifies patience, power, rank, and royalty. The Eagles combatant and conjoined to the bottom with a fleur-de-lis allude to the Paladin knights of France.
The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 2 May 2011.
