Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a green and white vertical rectangular shape arched convexly at top and bottom edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border divided quarterly  displaying a black panther's  head outlined in white with a narrow Black outline, details of  silver gray, tongue, ears and nose. The teeth and whiskers are white. Attached above the rectangle, a green scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "GARDENA" in white letters.  Attached below the rectangle, a green scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "HIGH SCHOOL" in white letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in height and 2 3/8 inches (6.03 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Kelly green, black and white are the school colors.  Green signifies the honor that the cadets show for their school and country.  Black signifies the determination to succeed in all endeavors.  Silver (White) represents the courage to act responsibly and possess uncompromising integrity. The panther is the school's mascot and reflects the strength, courage and bravery of the cadets, their indomitable fighting spirit and their "never say die" attitude.

Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Quarterly Vert and Argent, in the first and second quarter the silhouette of a panther statant Sable, in the third quarter barry wavy of sixteen of the first and second and in the fourth quarter, two arrows in saltire of the last. Attached below the shield, a Black scroll inscribed "INDOMITABLE" in Silver letters.

The panther is the school's mascot and reflects the strength, courage and bravery of the cadets, their indomitable fighting spirit and their "never say die" attitude.  The two crossed arrows represent the martial readiness of the cadets and allude to the American Indian tribe who hunted and fished in the Gardena area. The wavy lines signify the waves of the nearby Pacific Ocean.
