Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a shield shaped embroidered device edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border with rounded corners blazoned as follows: Gules, a panther's head Sable, faced to sinister, garnished of the first, in chief three mountains peaks of the second.  Attached above the shield, an arched Red scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border inscribed "COCONINO" in Black letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/8 inches (7.94 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Red and black are the school colors.  Red signifies valor, strength and zeal.  Black symbolizes dignity, determination and fertile land.  The name "Coconino" is the namesake of the plateau (land the school sets upon) which extends from Flagstaff all the way to South Rim of the Grand Canyon.  The school's mascot is the Panther, an animal held sacred by the Native Americans.

A shield shaped Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall blazoned:  On a irregular dancetty Or, a depiction of the Coconino National Forest and the nearby San Francisco Peaks covered Argent, beneath a sky Celeste, with Ponderosa Pines surmounting the dancetty Vert, over a woodland floor Sable. Attached to base a Red scroll inscribed "COCONINO HIGH SCHOOL" in Gold letters.

The depiction of the Coconino Forest and the San Francisco Peaks gives the geographical locale of the High School and reflects the pride the cadets have in the natural wonders that surround the area.
