Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a shield-shape embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Silver Gray border, blazoned as follows: Argent, three pallets Gules surmounted by a rams head caboshed Sable, edged and garnished of the first.  Attached above the shield, a White scroll edged with a 1/8 (. 32 cm) Silver Gray border inscribed "RAMS" in Black letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width. 

Symbolism
Red and white are the colors of Ridge View Academy.  The color red symbolizes loyalty and denotes the bond that is formed among the members of the Ram Battalion.  White is emblematic of honor, something every cadet strives for in all aspects of his education.  The Ram is the official mascot of Ridge View Academy and it represents leadership and authority.  The cadets identify with their mascot as instructors teach them the skills that will make them the leaders of tomorrow.

Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in diameter displaying a red circular designation band bearing the inscription "RIDGE VIEW" at top and "ACADEMY" at the bottom all in Silver Gray letters, surrounding two laurel branches Vert, a mountain range to chief Silver Gray, and at center a shield blazoned: Argent, three pallets Gules surmounted by a rams head caboshed Sable, edged and garnished Silver Gray, in chief saltire-wise a musket and sword of the last. 

Symbolism
The mountain range represents the landscape of Colorado, the location of Ridge View Academy.  The three peaks of the range denote the three fundamentals of being a cadet in the Ram Battalion: citizenship, leadership, and individual responsibility.  The sword further symbolizes leadership and the desire, discipline, and courage to lead.  The musket denotes the vigilance to maintain excellence in all aspects of school, community, and family life.  The two laurel branches represent knowledge and continuing education.
