Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A shield shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black Border blazoned as follows: Or, a panther's head facing to sinister Sable, eyed and detailed of the first.  Attached above the shield, a Yellow arched scroll edged with a 1/8 inch   Black border inscribed "PELL CITY" in Black letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width. 

Symbolism
Gold and black are the schools colors.  Gold signifies the wisdom and honor which are the virtues that cadets strive to achieve and maintain.  Black represents the determination of the Panther Battalion to succeed in all their endeavors.  The Black Panther is the school's mascot which was adopted in the mid 1900's upon sightings of the animal in the community.  The panther embodies the swift and capable thinking that is required of every cadet in the Panther Battalion.

Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Or, three lions passant Sable pale.  Attached below the shield, a Black scroll turned gold and inscribed "PANTHERS" in Gold letters. 

Symbolism
Black and gold are the school colors.  The three panthers represent the Pell City High School's motto "INSTILLING PURPOSE, CHARACTER, and HONOR IN STUDENTS".  Purpose, character, and honor are each represented by a panther and the shield as a whole alludes to the responsibility of every cadet to strive for these traits throughout their education.
