Shoulder Sleeve Insignia
A rectangular shaped embroidered device with rounded corners edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border, on which a light blue background above a black horizontal band from which rises a green pine tree with a light brown trunk; overall a black bear with a brown nose and white eye. Attached below a black designation band inscribed "UNIV OF MAINE" in white letter 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 5/8 inches 6.67 cm) in width.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 05 February 1981. (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-86)
Shoulder Loop Insignia
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a light blue shield bearing a green pine tree behind a brown Bull Moose resting on a green mound above a stylized blue sea. Attached below the shield a silver scroll inscribed "UNIVERSITY OF MAINE" in blue letters.
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 05 February 1981.
