Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
 A shield-shaped device with a horizontal scroll attached above the shield, the overall dimensions 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height and 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width, the shield divided per fess embattled scarlet and blue edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border, on the scarlet two yellow fleurs-de-lis and on the blue one yellow fleur-de-lis.   On a scarlet scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border the inscription "DE PAUL" in blue letter 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.

Symbolism
Scarlet and blue are colors of DePaul University.  The three fleurs-de-lis represent two early French explorers, Louis Joliet and Father Jacques Marquette and the first permanent settler, Jean Bastiste Point Sable, three prominent figures in the history of the State of Illinois.  The embattled base alludes to Fort Dearborn.

The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 2 January 1975.




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/2 inches (3.81 cm) in height overall consisting of a gold color metal and red enamel checky shield, the upper red square bearing a gold color metal crescent, the central gold color metal square bearing a red  enamel heart; on a blue embattled chief three gold color metal fleurs-de-lis.  Above the shield on a torse a stylized phoenix arising from stylized flames all of gold color metal.  Enveloping the shield on each side and in base a blue enamel segmented scroll inscribed "VIAM SAPIENTIAE" on the viewer's left and "MONSTRABO TIBI" on the viewer's right in gold color metal letters.
