Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a vertical rectangle embroidered item pointed at base, edged with a 1/8 inch gold border (.32 cm) divided vertically through the center, light blue and crimson; displaying two black panthers standing erect and facing each other.  Attached above the rectangle, a light blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) gold border inscribed "BRAINERD HS" in white letters.  Attached below the rectangle, a light blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) gold border inscribed "PANTHERS" in white letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Columbia blue, crimson and white are the school colors.  The light blue denotes Columbia Blue which signifies loyalty, a virtue the cadets possess in everything they do.  Crimson suggests patriotism an admirable trait the cadets have for their country.  White represents maturity an attribute the cadets reflect in their manners and decisions.  The panther is the school's mascot and conveys courage and power in the face of adversity.  The students identify with their mascot in their pursuit of academic as well as athletic achievements.

Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Quarterly Crimson and Celeste; in the first quarter a Y Pi' symbol surmounted by an atomic symbol; in the second quarter a lyre behind a set of crossed drum sticks; in the third quarter a unfurled scroll with a quill pen diagonally placed across; in the fourth quarter olive branch behind a winged foot, all in Silver Gray.  Above the shield, a Silver Gray helmet facing forward.  Attached below the shield, a Celeste (Light Blue) scroll inscribed "SCIENTIA POTENTIA EST" which translates to "Knowledge is Power" in Silver.
