Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device, 1 1/8 inches ( 2.86 cm) in height consisting of a shield blazoned:  Per bend Gules and Argent, a roundel Celeste charged with a sword and peace pipe in saltire Or.  Attached below the shield, a Gold scroll bearing the words "LOYALTY HONOR SPIRIT" in Scarlet letters.

Symbolism
Red and white are the school colors.  The light blue represents infantry branch affiliation.  The peace pipe is symbolic of Oklahoma and the history of the area.  The pipe is crossed with an Army saber alluding to Major General Henry Lawton, for whom the city and school are named.  They are both gold, symbolizing excellence, leadership and dedication of the ROTC cadets in Lawton.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 4 May 1988.
