Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a blue and white rectangular shaped item arched convexly at top and bottom edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) scarlet border divided quarterly, in the second and third quarter a red wolverine paw, surmounted by a white torch enflamed red bendwise from the fourth and first quarter.  Attached above the rectangle, a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) scarlet border inscribed "WOLVERINE" in blue letters.  Attached below the rectangle, a white scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) scarlet border inscribed "BATTALION" in blue letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Red, white, and blue, our national colors, are also the colors of Lincoln West High School.  The Wolverine is the school's mascot and has a reputation for ferocity, denoted by the red paws.  The flaming torch is a symbol of knowledge and it is tilted to represent the passing of wisdom from older to younger cadets.  The four quadrants represent the four grade levels of Lincoln West High School.

Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Azure, on a bend Argent and issuant from a wolverine paw in base bendwise four bendlets Gules.  Attached below the shield, a red scroll inscribed "LINCOLN WEST" in silver letters.

Symbolism
The wolverine paw leaves its mark, just like the cadets of the Wolverine Battalion leave their mark on Lincoln West High School and their surrounding community.  Red, white, and blue are the schools colors and denote the patriotism that is present amongst the cadets.
