Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a blue vertical rectangle arched convexly at top and bottom and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border, a red cardinal's head cropped, eye and beak white, pupil black, with black detail around eye and beak.  Attached above the rectangle, a blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border inscribed "SHELDON CLARK" in red letters.  Attached below the rectangle, a blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border inscribed "HIGH SCHOOL" in red letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Red and white are the school colors.  Red represents courage an attribute the cadets seek to achieve in conquering any obstacle that comes their way.  White symbolizes perfection; a goal the cadets seek to achieve in everything they do.  The cardinal is the school's mascot and represents the state bird of Kentucky where the school resides.

Description/Blazon
 A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  "Per bend sinister arched Azure and Sable, in chief a cardinal's head cropped Gules, extended above the shield, above a stylized mountain range Vert, in base upon a mound of the third, a wolf statant howling at the moon Argent (Silver Gray).   Attached below the shield a Red scroll inscribed "SHELDON CLARK CARDINALS" in Silver letters.

Symbolism
Red and white are the school colors.  Red represents courage an attribute the cadets seek to achieve in conquering any obstacle that comes their way.  White (Silver Gray) symbolizes perfection; a goal the cadets seek to achieve in everything they do.  The green mountain range suggests the mountains in eastern Kentucky where the school is located.  Blue alludes to the day sky and black reflects the night sky.  The wolf conveys the cadets' JROTC special teams which is the protector of the cardinal.  The moon denotes the change from day to night, in which the cardinal sleeps and the protectors guard all.  The cardinal is the school's mascot and represents the state bird of Kentucky where the school resides.
