Displaying a black stylized honeycomb nest surmounted by a silhouette of a yellow jacket insect with white details. Attached above the rectangle, a yellow scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "ROANOKE" in black letters. Attached below the rectangle, a yellow scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black border inscribed "RAPIDS" in black letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width.
Yellow and black are the school's colors. Traditionally the color yellow represents the excellence, honor and wisdom that the cadet's show for their school and country. Black symbolizes the cadet's dignity, sophistication and determination. The yellow jacket is the school's mascot and is indicative of the fighting spirit of the school. The stylized nest denotes protection and fierceness.
