Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
 On a Crimson vertical rectangle arched convexly at top and bottom edged with a 1/8 inch Black boarder blazoned as follows:  Gules an eagle soaring to sinister chief, couped at the shoulder Sable crowned Argent beaked and eye Or, surmounted by a silhouette of a stylized aircraft ascending point to dexter chief contrailing to sinister base of the fourth fimbriated of the third.  Attached above the rectangle, a Gold scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border inscribed "COLUMBIA" in Black letters.  Attached below the rectangle, a Gold scroll edged with a 1/8 inch
(.32 cm) Black border inscribed "HIGH SCHOOL" in Black letters.  The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width.

Symbolism
Columbia High School is named after the Space Shuttle Columbia, and also serves as a memorial to the men and women that bravely ventured in the heavens.  Crimson and gold are the school colors.  Crimson is symbolic of the courage of cadets as leaders in the school and the community and black signifies the determination to succeed in all endeavors, gold signifies pride and strength, white represents purity and truth.  The Eagle is the school's mascot and reflects the pride, honor and loyalty of the cadet's military training.

Description/Blazon
On a gold color metal and enameled device 1 3/13 inch (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield reversed blazoned: Triparted, to dexter chief Crimson an Atomic symbol Or, to sinister chief Sable enhanced point to chief a delta above a mullet of the second, in base Argent an eagle Volant Or.  Attached above the shield, a Black scroll conjoined to the top and inscribed "ESPRIT DE CORPS" in gold letters. Attached below the shield, a Black scroll conjoined to the bottom and inscribed "COLUMBIA" in gold letters.
