Gold signifies the pride and loyalty that the cadets show for their school and country.  The American Indian is the school's mascot and reflects the protective and courageous strengths and bravery of the cadets. The American Indian alludes to the original Indians living in the Wetumpka area known as the Alabama or Alibamu tribe. The tribe separated with some going to Florida or Louisiana and a few remained and became inhabited with the Muscogee. The Cusseta Treaty of 1832 forces them to settle in Oklahoma. This movement is known as The Trail of Tears. The torch represents knowledge and the four rings symbolize the four core subjects of Math, English, Science and History. The open book represents scholarly achievement. Wetumpka High School is the only school located within the City of Wetumpka, Alabama. The name Wetumpka was taken from the American Indian words "We-Wau" (water) and "Tum-cau" (rumbling or sounding), in reference to the noise made by the rocky shoals of the river.
