Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A disc 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in diameter overall, consisting of an inner red disc edged with a 1/16 (.16 cm) black border, issuing from the upper left to lower right portion of the inner disc the head and shoulder of an American Bald Eagle Proper throughout, the eagle's beak extended onto a red designation band edged with a 1/16 inch (.16 cm) red and white border, and a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) black outer border inscribed "EAGLE BATTALION" at top and "BIG REDS" at bottom all in white letters.

Symbolism
 Red and black are the school's colors. Red signifies the passion, patriotism, and loyalty that the cadets show for their school and country. Silver (White) is symbolic of the courage to act responsibly and possess uncompromising integrity. Black conveys the constancy, determination, and dignity that the cadets strive to demonstrate in academics, athletics and community activities. The school's mascot is the American Bald Eagle and represents bravery, strength alertness, and protection.

Description/Blazon
 A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Sable, an American Bald Eagle's head emitting from dexter couped Argent volute by a bordure with a bendy of seven, four Gules and three of the second.  Attached below the shield, a Black scroll inscribed "MUSKEGON EAGLES" in Silver letters.

Symbolism
Red and black are the school colors.  The Eagle is the school's mascot and represents bravery, strength alertness, and protection. The seven diagonal bars allude to the first human occupants, (the nomadic Paleo-Indian hunters) who occupied the region of Muskegon seven thousand years ago. The name "Muskegon" is derived from the Ottawa Indian term "Masquigon" meaning "marshy river or swamp."   Red signifies the passion, patriotism, and loyalty that the cadets show for their school and country.  Silver (White) is symbolic of the courage to act responsibly and possess uncompromising integrity. Black conveys the constancy, determination, and dignity that the cadets strive to demonstrate in academics, athletics and community activities.
