Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a black shield shaped device edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border, issuing from base a stylized orange torch enflamed surmounted by a white beveled star.  Attached above the shield, a black scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border inscribed "CAMPBELL" in white letters.

Symbolism
Black, white and orange are the school colors.  The torch enflamed with its stem a series of steps surmounted by a beveled star refers to the motto of the college "To the Stars through Difficulties." 

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 28 December 1971.




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of shield blazoned:  Sable,  bearing an Argent open book detailed black in perspective surmounted by six stylized pine trees Vert charged by a wavy fess Tenn.  Attached below the shield, a Black scroll inscribed "CAMPBELL UNIVERSITY" in Silver Gray letters.  

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 28 December 1971.  It was amended to change the name of the school to Campbell University and update the description of the insignia on 26 June 1981.
