Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
 A disc 3 inches (7.62 cm) in diameter overall consisting of a red circular center 1 3/4 inches (4.45 cm) in diameter bearing a light blue book with white edges and binder, fimbriated white surmounted by a white scallop.  Around the disc a white band inscribed "ST. JOHN'S" at top and "UNIVERSITY" on the bottom in light blue letters.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized 19 July 1968.

Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1/1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a silver color metal shield divided vertically into two equal halves, light blue to dexter and red to sinister, overall a cross throughout, surmounted in honor point by a book, incised and modelled and inscribed with raised letters, all of silver color metal.   In dexter base a fleur-de-lis and in sinister base a heat both of base metal.  Enveloping the shield a two segmented silver color metal scroll inscribed on the dexter segment "EDUCATIO CHRISTIANA" and the sinister segment "ANIMAE PERFECTIO" in black letters.

Background
 The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 19 July 1968.
