Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
On a blue background in the shape of the state of Nevada 4 7/8 inches (12.38 cm) in height by 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width overall, a  gray wolf head, head snarling bendwise, detailed black, teeth white, eye pupil, tongue and lips red, below a yellow arched scroll inscribed "BATTTLE BORN" in black letters all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue outer border and 1/16 inch (.16 cm) white inner border.

Symbolism
The snarling wolf is symbolic of the cadets' aggressive approach to involvement in school, community and country.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 6 April 1956.  It was amend to include a manufacturing drawing, change the description and add a symbolism on 7 April 2000.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-156)




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
 A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a blue shield charged with a silver snarling wolf's head, detailed and eyed blue with red mouth and tongue; beneath the shield a blue scroll with the inscription "BATTLE BORN" in silver letters.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was originally authorized 6 April 1956.  It was amended to add chip numbers on 9 April 1996.   


Tab. Description:  A blue at a 1 11/16 inch (4.29 cm) Radius, 11/16 inches (1.75 cm) in width including a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border by 4 5/8 inches (11.75 cm) in length inscribed "SIERRA GUARDSMAN" in silver gray 5/16 inch (.79 cm) letters.  To be worn above the school's shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI)
