Symbolism
Purple and white are the colors of the University.  The paladin (Knight) is the school mascot and carries a shield charged with a fleur-de-lis, the symbol of France.  The paladin, one of the twelve peers of Charlemagne's court, also suggests the ROTC values of military training academics and loyalty.
