On a black shield edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border, 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in height by 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm) in width a red demi-coyote affront, eyes and teeth white below the inscription "LA JOYA" arcing in red letters above.
Red, white and black are the school colors and represent valor, knowledge and honor. The coyote is the school's mascot and reflects the cadets' ability to adapt and survive.
