Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A white rectangular device edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border, the overall dimensions 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in height and 3 7/8 inches (9.84 cm) in width, on which is centered a stylized blue building consisting of six vertical columns supporting a triangular roof detailed white and resting above two blue steps, all below an arced inscription "THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI" in red letters 5/16 inch (.79 cm) in height.

Symbolism
Red, white and blue reflect the colors of the University.  The Lyceum reflects the academic studies of the cadets and indentifies the ROTC Program with the University.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally authorized 25 March 1981.  It was amended to add subdued colors, metric measurements and update the description and symbolism on 22 May 1992.  (TIOH Drawing Number A-10S-88)




Shoulder Loop Insignia


Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of shield blazoned:  Per bend Azure and Gules a bend Gray between a magnolia blossom Argent leaved Vert and a Lyceum Silver, on the bend a Mississippi rifle of the like.  Attached below the shield a Silver color metal scroll in two segments inscribed on the dexter segment "UNIVERSITY OF" and in the sinister segment "MISSISSIPPI" in Blue enamel letters.

Background
The shoulder loop insignia was authorized 30 October 1967.
